Exercise on its own is not enough for a dog’s fulfillment. While physical activity satisfies their energy drain, mental stimulation keeps a dog in a balanced state. In fact, dogs are natural-born problem solvers. If their intellect isn’t exercised, frustration ensues.
Brain stimulation can easily be achieved by engaging with activities like the puzzle feeder, scent games, and short trainings, as well as exposure to a novel environment.
“Hyper” or “difficult” dogs often simply suffer from boredom. An intellectually stimulated dog is always quieter, more settled, and less of a handful.
Ten minutes of intellectual stimulation will go further than any additional hour of exercise.
