Mental stimulation remains one of the most critical yet often overlooked parts of cat care. Cats are hunting animals and, if one does not provide enough opportunities to exercise their brains, then boredom sets in quicker than one can imagine. This boredom often manifests as damaging scratching, excessive meowing, or nighttime activity.
The instinct of a cat to hunt and explore can be satisfied with interactive toys, puzzle feeders, climbing structures, and short play sessions. Mental challenges tire the cat in a healthy way and reduce stress. A mentally engaged cat is much calmer, confident, and less prone to behavioral problems. Overall well-being and strengthening of bonds between felines and their owners are improved with consistent enrichment.
